My wife died. Can I still talk with her?

When someone we love dies, the world is changed forever. We usually feel a mixture of emotions, including sadness that we can no longer see them or do many of the things we used to do with them. (Certainly it is okay to cry. Jesus cried when his friend Lazarus died!) But there is good news in our heartache. The good news is that love is forever! Although a loved one who had died is gone from our sight, they are not gone from our lives. We are still connected with them in ways beyond what we can see, and actually in ways beyond what we can imagine. If there are some things you would like to say to your wife, I say, "Go for it." Tell her what is in your heart, and ask her to pray for you. Perhaps your wife doesn't hear your words in the way we normally think of that happening, but nothing can stop love from being heard. Somehow your wife will know your love. You see, though you no longer get to see your wife on earth, she is still a part of who you are. May you keep the best of her alive in your heart forever, and may you know you are never alone.
